Sessions & Fees

First Meeting

Appointments are available from 11am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

The first session will be an opportunity for us to meet and for you to tell me a little about yourself, to discuss what is bringing you to counselling and what you would like to achieve from your counselling. This process will enable us to see if we feel comfortable together and to help decide if counselling with me will potentially be supportive and productive. There is no obligation to carry on beyond this initial meeting. If we decide to move forward with the counselling then we will agree on a regular time and day that is mutually convenient.

Counselling is generally attended on a weekly basis; each meeting lasting for 1 hour. Counselling can be short term or longer term. The number of sessions can be approached on a flexible basis. This could range through one or two sessions to six or seven sessions or more longer term and open ended work if needed. We can discuss what might work best for you when we meet.

Fees

My standard fee is £50 per one hour session. I welcome students and students in counselling training from The University of Nottingham and other counselling courses : reduced rate fee £40

I am listed on The University of Nottingham of approved counsellors for staff and students.

Payment by bank transfer (preferred) or cash on the day of our appointment.

Sliding scale and some reduced priced sessions are negotiable for clients on lower income, state pension age and benefits. Please enquire for further details.

Cancellation Policy

I ask that we give each other as much notice as possible in relation to cancellation.

Cancellation of sessions with less than 24 hours notice prior to our appointment time will still be charged for at the full rate. Non-attendance for an arranged appointment without any contact from you will still be charged for. I cannot make any guarantee; but where possible I will endeavour to offer you an alternative appointment time within the same week thus avoiding the need for paying for a session you have not taken within that week.

COVID and Health

Both client and counsellor should monitor any Covid, flu and cold situation to help safeguard each other’s personal health and safety. My thought is that we keep each other informed of any personal health developments in relation to possible Covid, flu or cold like symptoms (especially in winter time) and to cancel / postpone any upcoming session with as much notice as possible; with an option to temporarily move to online counselling should this be necessary or desired.

Confidentiality

All meetings are in strict confidence with the exception that as part of normal counselling practice and discipline I meet regularly with an independent and experienced counselling supervisor to monitor that I am working safely, effectively and ethically. This relationship will respect your anonymity.
